The Big
Banchory Theory

The Big Banchory Theory was an initiative aimed at highlighting the ‘big’ ideas of science and the boundless possibilities of design within an everyday school setting. Working with the team at Banchory Academy, I helped create environmental graphics to bring the Theory to life.

What if Schools were Palaces?

The challenge of the Theory was to create environment adaptations that worked within the space and helped transform a tired science department. It was important that the graphics not only educate but engage students and create a starting block of inspiration for what would continue in the classroom.

Wall-to-Wall Creativity

Each wall utilised a different method to convey its central idea. One wall illustrates how energy can be captured through custom typography, while another features infographics explaining the size and history of an atom. A particular highlight is the Periodic Table of Everything, which showcases over 100 custom ‘branded’ elements with their unique properties, name inspirations, and uses.

DNA: The Building Blocks of Life

As part of The Big Banchory Theory, I created a large-scale illustrated mural documenting the many adaptations of DNA. Click below to explore this and other illustration projects.
